I have been trying to find out info on where I need to look for Comet McNaught from where I live in BC. I live on the south eastern side of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Can anyone give me some info if I can see it from here?

I heard on another post that is has been viewable from scotland, so I imagine you should be able to see it from BC. I saw it last night even with a few hills somewhat obscuring my view at dusk. Immediately after the sun has set, look to the right of that about 5-15 degrees above the horizon. Venus is a good indicator...If you hold out your fist at arms length, put venus immediately to the left of your fist. Then look just to the right of your fist. If it's visible to you, you will see what appears to be a fuzzy star with a white line coming out on the top right side. You can see it with the naked eye, but a pair of binoculars would come in handy(DONT USE THEM IF YOU CAN STILL SEE THE SUN though.) The comet may increase in brightness tonight and tomorrow night, and astronomers are saying that the brightness may rival Venus.

The comet is closer to the Sun.

You should start looking as soon as the sun sets.

Mountains might block your view! Last chance is today.
