For the last month a friend of mine has been having a lot of discharge and it smells. I told her that it is probably a urinary tract infection and that she needs to go get checked. She hasn't yet because she is scared. Any ideas of what it might be?

a urinary tract infection?????no hun sounds like a bacterial vaginosis to me it's not too serious and most the time it can go away on it's own but in other cases she will need to get antibiotics. I had the same thing it's caused by a hormonal imbalance down their.. I f her symptoms are not going away or are getting worse she needs to go right away even then i would suggest she go now cuz if it is not bacterial vaginosis it can be an STD. either way it can get serious and totally mess up her body..bacterial vaginosis is nothing to be embarassed about. If she does have it and has had sex she might want to let her partner know because he could have gotten it from her and will need antibiotics as well if not she will just keep getting the infection over and over again..

Bacteria infection!!! If your friend takes baths regularly with bubbles or anything that is not medicated it can throw of the balance of the natural bacteria that you already have in your body. Now here's what you do: Take a bath with 2 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda, Eat at least 3 cups of yogurt a day, wear pantie liners/ change it 3 times a day, and the #1 thing to do Go to the Dr. If your friend is sexually active it is better for her to just jet checked out if there is something seriously wrong, It's better to know then to be scared to know. Take care.

Could be a urinary tract infection, chlamydia, or a yeast infection. I'm sure it could be several other things, but those would be the first things that pop into my mind.

They don't take care of themselves and doctors are used to treating these. Not going in can make them worse - that's what she should be scared of.

With the medical advancement today and the technology we have to cure things....Get to the doctor...the longer you wait the harder to take care of.
It could be just a urinary tract infection, however let a doctor determine that.
I would hate to tell you something and not see her or run tests.
Smartest thing for your friend to do is forget the fear and get to the doctor...all they will do is help her.

Best wishes

If its a discharge it just may be a yeast infection, if she is not allergic to any types of medications she can get an otc to use, or get some plan yogurt. If this doesnt help and the symptoms come back she needs to go to a doctor.

If it's a urinary tract infection, she will have a feeling of wanting to go to the bathroom often, and it will sting when she goes. It won't go away unless you take antibiotics. It might be an STD.

She needs to go to the doctor! This sounds like an infection of some sort....but it could be something else.

Doctors have seen and heard just about everything, so there isn't much that surprises them. Tell your friend to go get it checked out before things get worse!

Being scared and not attending to it only makes it worse. Doctors have seen it all, so there's nothing to be afraid of. It's probably some kind of yeast infection that can be easily cured.
If your friend is sexually active, she needs to be mature enough to deal with her own body in a mature, sensible manner.

Go get check cause that sounds like chlamydia which is curable... few pills then back to normal. Its simple just suck it up and do it before it becomes really serious... Planned parenthood is the place to go
