I have a craftsman 6.5 HP push mower. Its been acting up recently. What its been doing is: I start it up and it runs strong for about 5 minuets, after that it starts sputtering and shuts off. Then it wont start back up for at least 15 minuets. Anyone know how to fix this?

That could be a lot of things. Start looking at the most simple,
make sure the air filter is not clogged
check for water in your fuel
look for a clog or something floating in the tank which would stop the fuel from flowing.
look for a clogged filter
look for a clogged jet in the carburetor
not as likely, but a failing ignition coil (it is a magneto coil on your mower)

Nothing, and I repeat nothing added to the gas..... will clean a carb...

It sounds more like a clogged gas cap vent... instead of a coil, the coil would let you restart the engine within 5 minutes... once it cools down enough.

Try it with the cap off or loose as well.... but the guy right above has you settled for most of the others.

sounds like you have a fuel line problem. I bet it is cloged at the carberator. get some carberator cleaner and pour it into the tank. It may take severl starts to get the system cleaned out
