Just found out this last week we are having twin girls. I think that I've found the two names I like, but I wasn't sure if they were a little to much.

Rowena Aislinn
Rosamund Ailis (pronounced AY-LISH) Irish for Alice, it was my grandmothers name who immigrated from Ireland

I'm pretty sure these are the two names I like, I just dont want them to be to much for them as they grow older.

What do you think?

I'm so tired of hearing the same names over and over (like: Emily, Hannah, Isabelle, Sophia) Though all these names are really nice, they have been so over used that I can't stand it. I want to try to stay away from these kind of names and I don't like changing the spelling of names ( like Isabella to Izobella or something crazy)

Rowena Aislinn
Rosamund Ailis (pronounced AY-LISH) Irish for Alice, it was my grandmothers name who immigrated from Ireland

Our last name is McCallister.

I'm pretty sure these are the two names I like, I just dont want them to be to much for them as they grow older. I know they are different, but they are each unique and I'm sure they will have nicknames like Rose or Wynn.

What do you think?

Instead of Rosamund I've thought about Rosalie. The Rosamund came from my husband his middle name is Edmund and mine is Rose. He thought it would nice to put it together. I was never to sure on this one.

they're your babies, it's your choice. But since you're asking for opinions, they do sound kind of out-dated or old fashioned. Like I said, it's your choice, your babies.

Gorgeous! They are a bit matchy, with the same initials and everything, but it isn't so bad that I'd worry about it.

Rowena is so pretty and underused, and Aislinn is beautiful- I hope to use it someday!

Rosamund Ailis is nice, though I prefer Rosalie or Rosemary. But I like the idea behind Rosamund and love that it is so rare yet easy to pronounce and not confusing.

Congratulations and thank you so much for giving your daughters classic and original names! So refreshing and unique :)

I just have to add- Please ignore the people saying the names sound too old, they sound like adult names, etc. People seem to not realize that we spend the majority of our lives as adults, not toddlers. No need to worry that a name sounds like it belongs on a grown-up, your twins will be grownups far longer than they will be kids.

And I highly doubt they will be made fun of anymore than anyone else in school. I grew up with a Rowena and she was nicknamed Rowe. She was one of the most popular girls at school, her name sure didn't hurt her. And Rosamund, you can guarantee will be shortened to a version of Rosa/Rose/Rosie. How someone could say she'll get teased more than an Addison or a female Devon, I have no idea.

Okay, rant over. Good luck!

I have heard of the name Rosamund before. I never thought of it as a baby name, but I kind of like it. I'm not as keen on Rowena. Rosalyn (RAH sa lyn or ROSE a lyn) might sound better with Rosamund.

Ailis takes some getting used to, but is okay. I would prefer Alice or Alicia to Aislinn though.

Not loving Rosamund, sounds like a city. I like Rowen better than Rowena but Aislinn or Ainsling I love and also Ainsley...

Whats with the R's, Rowena is Row and weeeeena, its ugly, and Rosamund is rose on a mound. also ugly. These too names are too close in looks and first sounds. Constant confusion will abound. Same goes for the middle names.
You are giving birth to TWO different individuals, give them different names, don't get cutesy with the alliteration, it looks childish and unimaginative. It will definitely be too much for them as they grow.

Move outside the R/A box. think about two people, two different people, two different personalities, two separate entities.

Ok, I'm going to be honest....they are too much. Think about it..those girls will FOREVER be explaining their names. I think people try so hard to be different....you don't need to. I'd put money on the fact that you would eventually give them a "shorter" version of those names or nicknames, anyway. Use Alice or Allison or Rose or Allison Rose. Hey, I'm Irish, too.(Kelley...my sister is Stacey, by brother is Patrick) There are so many pretty Irish girls' names to choose. Katherine, Colleen, Moira, Emma (has English roots, too), Erin, so, so, so many.

If you like the names, that is what is important. I grew up with a rowena and an ailis. And the trend is lending towards more traditional (what some would call old-fashioned) names. I like to test names out by yelling them out - one day, you're bound to call your daughters by their first and middle names....

Since the only name you are really using is your grandmothers, how about keeping Ailis.
Ailis and Allisyn for first names. The A names are softer and use the R names for the middle names.
Ailis Rose & Allisyn Rayne
