Why do people think monogamy is wrong? Humans are no different from animals and the male ape is known to copulate with many, many female apes during his lifetime.

You mean polygamy.

Monogamy is easier for most people because of human feelings like jealousy, envy, possessiveness, all of which are caused by insecurity.

There is an old book out called "Open Marriage" that I think you might find fascinating. I don't know who the author is but it was written in the 1960's or 1970's I think, or possibly the '80's.

As everyone else has said monogamy is legal all throughout the world. It's pretty obvious that humans are different than animals in a wide variety of ways. Humans have the ability for abstract thought, complex tools, philosophy, morality, and a wide variety of other things that set us apart from animals. I myself am a Christian so I'm going to throw in that humans have souls while animals do not. You also have to take into account that a male ape won't feel bad about possibly hurting the feelings of a female ape when he bangs half a dozen other female apes. In your question you completely ignore the variety of animals that mate for life such Gibbon apes.

I think you mean polygamy. Monogamy is one spouse and polygamy is multiple spouses.

Most people do not believe in polygamy because it is not something people like. I know I wouldn't want to share my husband with anyone. It makes a lot of things more difficult, too.

As far as Biblically, polygamy was practiced in the Old Testament, but mostly in the way of marrying one wife and then the wife giving her handmaid to her husband as a wife so he can have more kids. It wasn't practiced that way in the New Testament. Monogamy was.

I'd never support it.

MOnogamy is not illegal anywhere. And humans ARE animals. But that does not mean they are not any different than apes, or wolves, or house cats. We have more conscious control over our behavior than most other animals, and for many reasons we have chosen to value monogamous relationships over multiple couplings.

Monogamy is legal everywhere in the world.
Polygamy is not in most parts of the world and certainly not in the USA.
Polygamy is the act or marrying more than one person at the time. That marriage itself is illegal. But noone stops you from being in a Polyamory relationship, where you can have more than one partner. Polyamory is not swinging. But is an element of it if that's your thing. Polyamory is to be emotionally attached to more than one partner at the same time.

Monogamy is legal everywhere!

Polygamy doesn't make sense because humans are NOT apes, and they were made to be one male and one female.

Definition of monogamy: marriage of one husband and one wife if the couple is heterosexual and two people of the same gender if the couple is homosexual.

So, I don't know where you live, but as far as I know, monogamy is LEGAL in every state!

Umm, I believe you need to look up the definition of monogamy because I think you have it confused with polygamy.

Monogamy is not illegal anywhere. Mono means "one". You're thinking of polygamy. Poly means more than one.
