What's the difference between FILM-MAKING and DIGITAL FILM MAKING?

I DO know the technical difference (just a main idea, no details...)

But what is used nowadays and which would you choose to study if you were taking a degree?

What is used now in hollywood?

it depends on what your goals are. If you want to be a cameraman or cinematographer or a director or a writer. If you want to work with the camera then you should study both but I would focus on digital because it is phasing out film.

But if you want to write and direct, it doesn't really matter because it is all about telling story. You would let the camera people worry about whether it was digital or film.

Digital is less expensive and easier for people like you and me to make their own films on it which could get you noticed if it is really good.

Nowadays they're still using film but are starting to go towards the HD way. Like the new Superman was shot in HD. And for Collateral they shot in film but for the night scenes used HD. There's a mix as things aren't fully digital but probably will be eventually. It's slowly changing. If you were getting a degree from a good film school I'm sure you'd be required to learn some of both.
