boycott!! you don't have to obey that.. bring your own pop corn n drinks n 'smuggle' them in your back pack.. =D That's what I did..

Profit making theatres!! They do that so that we could learn how to save $$$..

Movie theatres do not deserve to extort our hard earn money by overcharging unecessarily!

Two reasons:

1. Because they make more money on their concessions than they do on the ticket prices, and

2. The concession stands inside movie theaters are set up to have a monopoly. If you cannot bring in your own stuff, and there's nobody else to buy stuff from, then they can charge you the exhorbitant prices and get away with it.

If you are creative you can usually manage to sneak stuff in. Go with a girl who has a big purse and have her put a box of tampons right on top so if anybody demands to look inside they will quickly back off. (They usually do not check bags though. At least not where I go.)

Popcorn and soda in the movie theater generates over a 1000% profit margin for the theater's owner. The snack stand uses about 4 cents of oil, kernels, salt, and electricity then charges $4.00, that's profit making.

Because the only money a movie theatre makes is through their concessions. Movie theatres don't make money from ticket sales; that money all goes to the film companies.

because who can sit thru a 2hour movie in a dry theater and not want something to drink and once you smell popcorn enough said you have to have it... they can charge what they want because you CANT bring anything in unless you happen to say have an oversized purse and ummm accidently forget to take your drinks and snacks out of it before you go inside.

Because of the cleaning, besides they only have tickets and snacks as a money-intro

b/c they know that no one can refuse popcorn and a soda to go along with the movie, but nowadays people just bring their own food.
