Is it just me or does it seem like there are no decent celebrity role models for girls these days? And if there is a decent one, they turn bad..Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, ect.
And you wonder why girls are anorexic these days!! They idolize these celebrities that teach them nothing! (Except to be skinny and do drugs.) It seems like there is no one left to be good role models for girls. What do you think?

i most definetley agree. everyone looks up to celebriteies, but why?? i am teenager and yah i like to know about celebs lives and stuff, but like your right, most of them are anerexic, like mary kate and ashely olson. they used to be the cutest girls ever b/c they were on full house but now look at them, i think girls should defeintely not look to celebs for role models, it is not a good idea

hmm yea its hard to come up with very many role models out of hollywood these days. What about Natalie Portman, she graduated with honors from Harvard, Mayim Bialik was accepted to both Harvard and Yale, but turned them down to attend UCLA and has a Ph.D in neuroscienc. Maybe Mandy Moore and Sandra Bullock too, like the other comments said. Id like to include Drew Barrymoore too, but the stuff that was publized when she was young doesnt help neither does the fact thats shes the youngest movie star to pose for playboy. But then again, the media does exaggerate a great deal

Your right, there are no decent celebrity role models. But give this a thought, why do role models need to be celebrities. Why would you possibly want to model yourself after someone who is an actor or sports star. There are very few redeeming qualities in these sorts. Instead, young men and woman need to take a look at adults who are near to them who are responsible, educated, kind, and generous and model themselves after them. And there is an added benefit of actually being able to be in direct contact with your role model.

Honey this has been coming a long time now.
You are right basically none not a single good celebrity role model.
We teach girls to be little sluts at a young age then we tell them its wrong when they are knocked up, addict, single mums that no one wants.
Personally I think like the Roman empire the west as reached its peak and is due to collapse on itself. The product of its own success unmotivated lazy glutonous and morally void.
It will all be over soon hiding under our Gucci bedsheets wont save us from our impending doom.

I think part of the problem is that good girls don't get the same amount of attention. Take Mandy Moore for example, I think she's a great role model but because there isn't anything controversial about her she doesn't get any attention.

that's the problem, your kids shouldn't be idolizing celebrities. As parents we have the power to influence our child on what they watch and listen to. Parents and community members should be role models. As for celebrity going wild you need to explain to a child the difference between how celebrity live and how 99% of the population live. Reality vs. fantasy.

Yeah, I miss there being role models around like Carol Burnette and Julie Andrews! Although, they're still good role models. Julie Andrews writes childrens' books these days. I wonder what Carol Burnette's up to.

Ehh. I guess you can say that Hilary Duff is a good role model, even though I'm not her biggest fan. I mean, she doesn't do drugs or go out and party like other celebs and she does set a good example.

The ones you mentioned are indeed not good role models at all. But I think there are still some good ones like Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, Carrie Underwood.
