Tampons can hurt for a number of reasons, for example if your hymen is in tact a tampon may break your hymen that can be painful for some people although it is just as likely not to be painful, if you are not used to vaginal penetration or have any problems with the idea of vaginal penetration this can make penetration painful, also bare in mind that tampons are dry wads of material so can rub and irritate your vaginal walls.

Your mother really should give you a better explanation other than that it might hurt you; it is up to her to explain to you why it might be painful and why it is best for you not to use tampons. If your mother cannot teach you these things, even if she can, it is important you learn about these things yourself so you can make an educated decision as although people may not speak very often or openly about these things it is a very big issue that can really have a big effect on your life.

Trust me when I say although you think you do, you really don't want to use tampons, as well as expensive, inconvenient and harmful to the environment, tampons are also bad for your vaginal health and unhygienic. You have over twenty different menstrual options to choose from, using tampons does not make you mature, as a lot of young women your age seem to think, what would make you mature would be to research tampons and how your body works, you would then realise how harmful tampons are and that there are far better menstrual options available to you such as pads or menstrual cups.

Tampons prevent your vagina from cleaning itself, give bacteria the perfect environment to multiply upon, leave fibres within your vagina, dry out mucosa resulting in vaginal splitting, put chemicals into your vagina that affect vaginal pH, put chemicals into your body that can build up affecting general health, chemicals as well as harsh fibres can irritate or cause allergies, expand adding to bloating, expand adding to menstrual cramping. This is why tampons are considered one of the most harmful options available; they are linked to vaginal infections and more serious illnesses such as toxic shock syndrome. These risks are also increased if you are in your pre-teens or teens because you do not have the same antibodies that adults do to deal with infections and TSS, your vulva and vagina are also more prone to irritation from the fibres and chemicals used within commercial tampons.

Your mother is probably the one buying your menstrual products for you, and she is probably also the one putting the roof over your head, respect her wishes until you are mature enough to choose for yourself what menstrual options to use and until you are able to pay for them yourself – it really isn't a big deal if you cannot use tampons. You cannot change your mother's mind, for the time being it is far healthier for you to stick with sanitary pads or free-flow methods, when you are older and still feel that you want to use internal options then you should look at safer options such as menstrual cups or softcups.

I'd recomend you look through the pages at http://www.scarleteen.com they have a lot of information on this and other important things about your body, they also discuss some other menstrual options that are far better than tampons such as cloth pads, sponges and menstrual cups.

A tampon with not hurt you, but be sure that you follow the instructions that come with them. Change them frequently.

Look on the Internet for some information. Google would be a good place to start.

If you want to not worry about your period then I say wear tampons...but always have a pad close by. At first tampons do hurt, but after a few more uses it's normal to your body. Good Luck Girl.

YESS!!!! You absolutey should. They are awesome, so comfortable, and easy. They will be uncomfortable and feel different the first 2 times, but after that you won't even feel them. Believe me, the day I got my period I used a tampon and I still haven' ever used a pad. It didn't hurt at all, it felt weird. You should definitley use one. They're very worth it!

They are so much better than the alternative. You might start out on the slimfits, at least until you get used to inserting them. There are some risks of toxic shock syndrome but the risk is pretty small and once you get them in you can't even feel them.

Maybe she's referring to Toxic Shock Syndrome, that is somehow related to using super absorbancy tampons. Some believe that by leaving them in too long it can harbor bacteria, which causes infection. I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. There are other things that can cause it too.

No it truly is completely widespread. attempt an rather small one and ensure u are placing it excellent. the first time always hurts and it takes a pair tries to really get it. yet examine the academic and ensure you're placing it wisely. good success!! and that's thoroughly widespread for it to break.
