I have owned the fan for three years, and as long as I can remember the fan noise has been an issue. I googled a solution but it was too techy for me to follow.

You can't really quiet the beast. If it was always a problem, then I guess it's spinning that fast (more noise) to prevent the thing from overheating. You can probably replace the fan for a more quiet one, but then like I said the laptop may overheat.

Get a new fan. It could also be a vibration on a loose part of the exterior. Pinpoint the noise to find out if the fan or a vibration is causing you this audible distress.
