Oh, I feel so sorry for you ! Nothing like two sick kids..Sounds like she scrubbed it TOO well, and the liquid has gone through the carpeting and into the padding underneath. Short of taking up a corner of the carpet and replacing the padding underneath it, try spraying thoroughly with Shout laundry stain remover, or a fabric refresher.

Gotta steam clean the carpet. Rent one or buy one. Steam cleaning is the only way to really get the carpet clean.

A steam cleaner is handy to have if you can store it. You've got kids & more spills, etc. in your future.

Get one with attachments so you can use it on furniture & for you car's carpet and upholstery.

Charcoal - the kind used in aquarium filters - is good for absorbing residual odors. Fabreze is good too.

try making a weak paste with oxy clean and water, soak the spot and then put a towel ontop to soak up the water. Let sit overnight if that doesn't work try Baking soda. Sprinkle on the smell and let sit overnight, vaccuum it up in the morning.

not to compare your children to animals...haha...but when our puppy got sick on the carpet, we used 'spot shot' an aeresol can (blue and orange) which helped a bit with the smell, but also get some carpet freshening powder, im drawing a blank on which kind we use...but you sprinkle it on the carpet, you can let sit on the floor for 5-10 mins and then vacume up...it smells great, and should help quite a bit

Call in a professional carpet cleaning company. They can usually get most stains, smells, etc. out of the carpet with their cleaning equipment & knowledge.
