Two cars start from the same town at the same time and travel in opposite directions. One car averages 50 miles per hour and the other 60 miles per hour. In how many hours will they be 550 miles apart?

Now there Lil Miss Texas, I reckon if they start off in a town like Houston, they may be starting off 50 miles apart in the first place. But now that wouldn't make for an easy mathematical problem, so we can guesstimate that they done start at the same locale. Now, see here. They each vamoose at the same time, so every hour one's going 50 one way and the other's going 60 the other way. It seems to me that they're getting further apart by 110 miles each hour. So, I reckon it'd take some 5 hours for those two fellers to have a disparity of distance of 550 miles. Now, all that said, how 'bout we go get us some chicken fried steak dinner w/ smashed potaters & green beans, with some peach cobbler a la mode for dessert, whatcha say darlin' ?
