He lied about it so much. The american people ate his lies.

"He's a threat to America and he's a threat to our friends. He's even more of a threat now that we've learned that he's anxious to have, once again, to develp a nuclear weapon. He's got connections with Al Quada." Oct 28 2002- Colorado

"That's the nature of this man. We know he's got ties with Al Quada. Tampa, Florida,November 2002

The concept of "The Big Lie" has been practiced many times over many centuries. Fortunately, for the sake of history, truth reveals itself, sometimes in strange and ironic ways. In recent history, the Nazis tried to cover up the massacre of millions of people whose only crime had been to have been alive in the wrong place at the wrong time. Time revealed the truthfulness of their tyranny. Time also revealed the truth surrounding the facts of the Kennedy assassination. The forensics evidence proved it could not possibly have been committed by a lone gunman. For years, Communist China denied the lunar landings ever happened and kept over a billion people ignorant about it until the passing of time provided information about it to the masses. There will always be "The Big Lie" and time will always reveal the truth of the matter.

I think so. In the one sided process that is the media we tend to believe it once we have heard it from several different sources. Even though the root source might be the same.
The media is supposed to do due diligence and report that it isn't true but sometimes that process gets lost or perhaps even they are suckered in too or are persuaded not to look too far "in the national interest".
NB....I am a Democrat, proud to be a liberal, but not so naive as to think that only the Republican's use that tactic.

You mean the Bush went AWOL.
That 9/11 was done by our government. ~44% of New Yorkers believe it now.
Or the liberals care more about the poor than conservatives.
When later proven that conservatives give more of their own money and time than liberals and when you factors those that go to church that gap even is bigger.
Assualt weapons ban will save lives and come to find out it didn't.

What they said about Saddam was true.
He had WMD's. He used WMD's. He had contacts with Al Qaeda. He supported terrorism. He harbored terrorists. And those aren't the only good reasons for toppling him, sorry.
But if you say "Saddam shouldn't have been toppled," over and over and over, yes, people will start to believe that lie.
And Michael Moore wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the butt.

Ignorant people will believe it, most people are willfully ignorant, because they are told they are. So it seems largely true.
