What your looking for are called "hot-seat" games usually. They are played with each player sitting down at the same machine in turn as they take thier turn. If your looking for games played over small local networks, that's a different story.
I don't know about the 6+ ones, but for the more mature players, I beleive Sid Meiers games tend to have hot-seat options, so things like Civilzation, Alpha Centarui and possibly Rail Road Baron are out there. There is also the Might and Magic series. You'll probably want the older titles, most games no longer offer this sort of option as online play is so much more popular.

you could Play the first Halo on laptop for loose. there is also Guild Wars. its an mmo thats loose (nicely you stil ought to purchase the CD obviously) I also forgot to point the perfect 2 Theres CounterStrike:source crew citadel 2 And my prominent Left 4 lifeless.
