First of all congrats to you on your sweet baby boy !!! Every baby is different Hun and he will eat as much as he wants to eat. Sure, our friends baby may have wanted that much at his age, but your baby doesn't and that's OK. I have four children, my son was on 3 8 oz bottles AND breast feeding 6 times a day at only 5 months old. My third child was lucky to take in 5 oz bottles 3 times a day at the same age. My children are all healthy and fine Hun and I'm sure yours will be too. He won't starve. You never want to try to make him eat more then he wants to.

6 oz is fine for a 4-month old baby! In fact he would be fine on a 4oz bottle. Give him 7 oz a bottle for a full day. Let him stop eating when he's done. Write down how much he eats on average and go by that. If he usually on drinks 4 oz that is all he needs.
My daughter is 8 months old and only has 6 oz for her bottles. She also has baby food for lunch and dinner. I started her on a small bowl of cereal late into the fourth month, but at that age she was only on 4 oz every four hours.

My 4 month old drinks 6 oz, somtimes slightly less. I would ask your pediatrician and just make sure that he is gaining weight appropriately. Also, I would consider how long you want to space out your feedings. 6 oz. will usually take my baby 4 hours and it's also enough to sustain her through majority of the night. I would not force any more than your baby wants. He'll let you know when he's ready for more and when he is full. Forcing him to eat more may cause him discomfort and can end up in more spit up than you'd like. I'm sure you're doing great!

Baby's eat when they are hungry. If he is hungry he'll eat until he's not hungry anymore. No sense in force feeding him just b/c he SHOULD be taking more at that age. As long as he is healthy and not severely underweight I wouldn't worry so much about it. My 16 month old never did reach 8 ounces before taking her off the bottle. All you can do is offer it. If he eats 6 oz and still seems hungry, give him more, otherwise follow your instincts. He'll be fine and you're doing fine.

Dont worry about starving your baby, if you offer and he refuses!! Some babies want a big bottle, others want smaller ones but more often. Listen to your baby and how he wants to eat. The importance is that he is growing steadily, not that he sucks down 8oz at once!!! Babies have such small tummies, they really arent suppose to be having a big bottle like that.

As your baby reaches the walking stage, which will seem like overnight, 4 ouzes at a time. Make sure you have a tippy cup of just pure water sitting where the child can drink water at will.
Mix 1/2 juice with 1/2 water in a 4 ouz cup when giving juice so that they can avoid too much sugar to quench their thirst.
Dairy, I don't agree with. The reasons are listed on resources below.
Have fun feeding your child balanced meals when they begin to eat. FYI, natural vitamin C (sliced oranges) will help them absorb iron in a scrambled egg. So, food combining for proper nutrition is essential.

6 oz is enough for the little one. Your baby will actually let you know if he hasn't had enough. Some babies eat more than 6 oz, some eat less. As long as your doctor says things are going well with the child then you have nothing to worry about.

6oz is fine for a 4 month old. My baby is 9 months old & still doesn't drink 8oz.
As long as your baby is growing & happy-- follow your baby's cues:)

Your baby knows much better than your friend when he is full! If your baby is stopping before you think he is full, try feeding him in a quiet, dim room. Four months is when babies start becoming MUCH more interested in the world around them - he may just be distracted. However, you shouldn't force your baby to eat more than he wants. It could lead to being uncomfortable (and fussy!) because he is too full, and could lead to a lifetime of overeating.
Good luck!

Babies only eat when they're hungry and they stop when they're full. As long as he seems satisfied and is gaining weight - no worries. Just don't go over 32 ounces of formula in 24 hours without speaking to the doctor first.
