if you are eating for emotional reasons and not hunger reasons then it may be very difficult to just stop doing that but what you can do is to eat what is healthy and has no fat and few calories when you are eating in this way....

I went through a stage when I was eating emotionally and was putting on weight something shocking... I knew I could not just stop this habit from will power so I allowed myself to eat emtionally and every morning prepared a tray of goodies that I kpt in the fridge it had on it carrot sticks, celery sticks, slices of apples, grapes, a few little squares of cheese, some olives, crisp fresh cauliflower and broccolli florettes and slices of oranges. and some water based crackers..

with my supply all ready to eat and wrapped in the fridge whenever I opened the fridge door to eat it was right there in front of me and I allowed myself to pick at the tray all day to my hearts content. I found this was healthier for me than eating just whatever and it was easier than not emotionally eating...

I also made myself drink a glass of water with all snacks....through out the day...

I realized that I can't stop, so now I just choose the foods more carefully and not with wild abandon, and I limit it to one serving. I used to go for cookies, now I have a bowl of oatmeal instead. (The "Nutrition for Women" oatmeal in the purple box is delicious, filling, and feels like a treat; it is a better comfort food than cookies or other crap.)

when you get the craving to eat. Pop a piece of gum. Gum with flavor that lasts for a little bit. The chewing action can help.

I try to stay in a place where I can't eat, like the school library.

whenever you need to eat, eat and ice cube, they taste good and have no calories. you're still eating, but you're not getting any calories! that way you can go on eating emotionally forever!!!! yaayy!

try to avoid your attention away from it, watch a movie go out and have fun with ur friends do something like dat!
