it really depends on how long and how heavily you drink. it is not good to quit without help if you are heavy into it. drying out is serious business. My husband died from potassium depletion..Sudden death due to heart failure. nothing to fool with. god bless J

I had absolutely no problem in quitting drinking because I was motivated by what is called the Word of Wisdom in the LDS Church.

Yes, I crave a beer occasionally with a pizza, but I understand the importance of abstaining from all alcoholic beverages.

yes, it is not easy i have had several relapses in my years of drinking never a DWI,arrest, or trouble outside the family. My source of my strength is in God, not religion but my own knowing that i am being protected and finally realizing that if i ever do start again i will continue on. I moved from my old location, employment, and some social settings. It is tough to do, but if you really want to quit you have to make those changes in your life. I'm not a total advocate to AA but i know that it does work for those that need the strength in there life to quit. Believe in the lord and yourself this helps and realize its your soul that is dying by consuming alcohol. good luck to you and your endeavor. Treat it as any other illness, the only medicine that will work for you is STOP. it does not come in capsules it comes in heart and soul.

Yes, I quit on my own. Although I had multiple health problems to inspire me. I mean if it is going to kill you, it kind of takes the fun out of it. I am not knocking Alcoholics anonymous or anything, Support networks can be very helpful.
