You need International Latin classes (since you mention samba and jive). Cha cha cha is also part of International Latin, but there is a slightly different version of it in American Rhythm. Salsa is a Nightclub dance. Many studios that teach International Latin or American Rhythm teach salsa as well. You won't find good Samba and Jive classes in studios that don't teach International Latin. You should start out with group classes because it is the cheapest and most efficient way to learn the basic steps.

Internanational Latin classes are usually oriented to competitions and performance. They are usually focused more on proper teachnique of dancing than on learning a lot of steps at the very beginning. If you don't want to compete but just want to learn it's OK too. They will be useful anyway.

Take a look at http://www.ballroomdancers.com , http://www.accessdance.com , http://www.usabda.org this where you can find where you can find classes and other dance activities in your area.
