Wouldn't want them to get anymore stale. Gotta be the perfect amount of stale. lol

Seems pointless, I know. The FDA requires that all food, including croutons be packaged, if it is too be sold. Croutons that come in packages are not technically stale bread, but over baked bread. It is still vulnerable to molding, contamination, etc, so that is why it is in air tight packages.

We don't want the germs to get out.

I would never imply and germ was trying to get in because perhaps he was hungry and wanted some croutons.

They lose their crunch if left out in the open air. They are toasted...not stale.

well i have had some stale croutons before... they sort of get bland & not so much cruchy anymore...
