Class is just another way to pigeon hole people,a form of inverted snobbery,we come with nothing and no matter what we have we cant take it with us when we die.

I'd say I'm upper lower class/lower middle class. I think it all depends on your predecessors mainly, if you won a load of money I think it would take a while to shake off your previous class.

I'm a single parent on benefits although I also run my own business (it's in it's first year so has no profit in case anyone jumps on that one!) and I live in Scunthorpe in a 2 up 2 down terraced house with a garden and have my own car. My father was retired when I was born but worked for the civil service until he was 69 and my mother stopped working when I was born but worked for the civil service till then. We had enough money to live on but have to watch the pennies and it's pretty much the same now.

I think anyone lower class would be struggling to make ends meet, working manual labour at minimum wage and living in overcrowded accomodation with no personal transport.

I think upper middle class would be living comfortably being able to afford a couple of holidays a year and splash out occasionally without trouble. I think they'd hae a good car, good sized house, live in a nice area and that they are generally the most comfortable of all class levels with the money bringer probably working at upper management level.

Upper class would be well off and not be struggling for money or if they were have expenses so horrendous the lower classes couldn't even contemplate them! Usual, really nice car, nice family background, money inherited rather than earned through work and living in a big house in a nice area probably not working or if they were working in a top level job.

What is the difference between working class and middle class or for that matter working class and upper class. If you are upper class you are most likely that bec you worked for it and if you are middle class you have to work so doesn't that still make you working class? I think the term is working poor. That is the politically correct way to say poor now. I think I consider myself middle class.

I would say working class, even though the money that comes into our house is classed as middle class wages. Also, i believe that even though there is not supposed to be class seperation anymore, we are still judged by what job we do/where we live/ what school our children go to etc.

Economy class. Sometimes First Class. But if the plane nosedives into the ground, First Class strikes first. Maybe that's why it is called first class? You just can't win, can you. You'll still be waiting in line because the First Class passengers will have gotten to the pearly gates before you. Heavenly Heathrow.

Judging by what we have material wise and good jobs society would say middle class but it sure feels like working class to me.

If we lost one job we would be in trouble, thats why I think it's working class - maybe working middle class should be a class that's where I would fit in.

I consider myself in the working class, because I am a teacher, and I have to work a part time job just to make ends meet...

We were middle class when both my husband and I were working, but I quit to watch our two children and go to school. Now I would have to say that we fall in the working class, but we're happy and thats all that matters.

Working class because I work and I'm not middle or upper class.
