YES!

You should take your folic acids pills before you start even trying. You won't be able to eat enough foods with folic acid in it, to make sure you get the right dose, get the pills.

GOOD LUCK!

Take a multivitamin with 400 micrograms of folic acid every day before pregnancy and during early pregnancy, as part of a healthy diet.

Eat a healthy diet that includes foods that contain folate, the natural form of the vitamin. Such foods include fortified breakfast cereals, dried beans, leafy green vegetables and orange juice.

Good Luck!!

For women ttc the FDA recommends a daily folic acid dose of 600 mcg. Any prenatal vit. should have at least that much in it. You should be taking prenatal vits with folic acid in them for 3 months prior to becoming pregnant to reduce the risks of nerual tube defects in the baby.

From what I have learned through researching conception and recommended by my doctor, start taking a prenatal vitamin. Once I conceived, my doctor wanted me to double my folic acid dosage. It is needed in the development of the baby's spine.

Yes! Folic Acid is extremely important for the development of a healthy baby. I suggest vitamins made by Shaklee...they are what I took and I had healthy babies (almost 10 lbs each)!...Your doctor will suggest prenatal vitamins, but you should get yourself in the best shape before you get pregnant. I actually was permitted to take the Shaklee brand vitamins when I was pregnant. My doctor felt they were great and I was already taking them for years before I got pregnant.

Yes it's a great idea! I always take a folic acid supplement and I don't intend to have my 4th baby for another year!

Yes, take the pills. When I was trying to get pregnant my nurse told me to start taking those and drink a lot of OJ. She said that those would help if/when I did become pregnant. I'm not 7 1/2 weeks along. Good luck and have fun trying!!
