Prometrium has 2 uses. The first use is to bring on a late or missing period. You take the drug for 5-14 days (however long your dr prescribes) and about 2 days after you stop taking it you have a withdrawl bleed. This in no way induces ovulation. The second use is to help with a short luteal phase (the luteal phase is the second half of your cycle after ovulation occurs). You take it the day after ovulation for 14 days and after 14 days if you have a neg. pregnancy test then you stop taking it and have a period. It in no way causes ovulation.

My doctor put me on it after I had conceived. It helps thicken the uterus and cervix. I took it vaginally, not orally. The pharmacy didn't tell me to take it vaginally and I took one dose orally and it knocked me out big time! I would do some research on it and discuss it with your doctor.
