To tell the truth, we life in a society that pushes us out the door back straight to work practically straight away after having a baby.
I don't agree with this, I believe that a mother should rear her children, bring them up as best she can afterall what can give a mother more joy.
I know someone who, after 3 months or so after having her baby, went back to work, and the child placed into a creche. Who will teach that child the differences between right and wrong? Who will show that child what it means to love? and who will show that child what it means to rear a family and keep it together even when time gets tough? Will the creche? or how about the nanny? or even the relatives? My answer (and not everyone agrees) is the mother and father, who love each other, can only show a child what it really means to love and to show their young what a family is.
A mother teaches her young to love, to respect her and their father, even when they're wrong! If a child respects his/her parents and family, then they will respect a police officer, a teacher, a priest, and you see society will benefit and it all goes back to the mother rearing her own children.
You see being a mother is a priviledge, a great honor, you have the power to change society, all wives and mothers do.
But then if you choose this path I will guarantee you it is not easy but I will say that it is DEFINITELY worth it.
it's your decision, God bless, xox.

It depends on your family situation. I stayed home w/ my baby for 3 months. I went back to work because I know my husband & I will be purchasing a house soon. I also know it's a good idea to work while I can. I only have one baby now-- so it's a good time to save for the future.
I work from 8:30-3:00 everyday so I have PLENTY of time to spend w/ my baby when I get home. I also have off in the summer w/ my baby-- I'm a teacher. I did what works best for my family. You will have to decide what's best for yours:)

I would never go back to work! Children - although sometimes an absolute headache - are really such a blessing to have. Why wouldn't anyone want to stay at home giving them everything you can offer of yourself?

At least 6 months. That way you can develop a special bond with your child. Longer if you do not have a trustworthy, responsible, well reccommmended sitter or day care.

If I had a choice I MIGHT work part time, if at all.
My maternity leave would have been a year long (v. 3 months which is considered long - ?!?)
