So the Hippie movement in the 60/70's was an antiwar initiative with the basic understanding that senless killing in Vietnam had to stop. The current pop definition of hippie has become more closely associtate with a bumb than what the actual 60/70's movement was working on. John Lennon was a pop icon and very much a leader of that movement, but probably didn't consider himself anything other than wanting positive change in the world.

JOhn Lennon was an artist who had a tremendous talent for music. He may have had longer hair than most men, he may have done drugs back then, he may even have claimed he was a hippie, but really that doesn't matter. He was a human being who was tradgically murdered by a psycho. What matters is what kind of a person he was and he was a loving, caring man who truly enjoyed his family and entertaining his fans.

I don't think he was a hippie, but hippies liked him. I think of hippies as pot smokers that have no purpose. He was a leader and had a very insightful mind, even though he liked his dope. I love John Lennon and all of the Beatles...they changed many things in this world. God Bless them!
