Could there be happiness without sadness, love without hate or cold without hot, good without evil. Are our human minds made in a way that we do not fully understand the meaning of something unless we go without that something?

I think life, like all things is made up of wave patterns. Sound and light have this. I think time itself has this fluctuation as well (believe this was once stated by the widely known author - Steven Hawking). Based on these theories life itself has a wave patter it would seem. If you think about the earth (the only place that houses so much life as we know it) it too has a wave pattern; with its weather and temperate changes. So it would seem that even the smaller things in life have these fluctuations - these troths and crests. In one side we have the good and another the bad. The happy ... and its counterpart - the sad. I don't think we would know what peace is... without having war.

All of these conditions exist, and so it is impossible to really know what would be if they didn't. I do believe however that even if we could have peace, love and happiness without war, hate and sadness we would not appreciate it as much as we do having experienced the opposite. It is only in comparing something to something else that we understand its true value, but this does not necessarily mean that we don't have something equally valuable.

Unfortunately in this world you can't have something without an opposite. That's how it's always been and that's how it will forever be. Peace could never exist without war because without war we wouldn't know what peace would feel like.

Life itself is a contrast. Life/death. One can't
exist without the other. Because we are human and
flawed by nature we will always have to deal with
contrast. I think life would be boring without
contrast. I always want a choice. To not be able to
choose would cause me great distress.

Its the truth- their is no joy without sorrow- no victory without challenges- you cant have one without the other- as far as war as much as I hate to admit it its human nature.... kinda sucks huh? But personally God gives me peace though the storm- when ever I need him hes there! ♥

I don't think war is necesarily the "opposite" of peace. Crime and simple fighting or jealousy can still shatter peace. So we could have peace if there was no war.

absolute peace is unattainable, you need a balance, and yes, you need the bad to see the value of the good, that's the balance
