Its irrelevant. voting machines by design must have publically available code, and no extern (internet) access.
One other thing while we're on the subject, since we had all these automated voting machines why didn't we get instantaneous results, I mean the machine could have counted all teh votes in seconds and we would have known who won at 9:01 instead of midnight.

Electronic voting machines are not "Black Boxes". their operation is well known to anyone willing to do any research. That eliminates almost everyone here. We had a manual recount of one congressional district here in Ohio. Paper records are kept in each machine in our county at least. This record is visible to the voter until they submit their ballot. Not a single error was found when these tapes were compared to the electronic records used in the original count.
The only problems found were PAPER absentee ballots that the voters marked improperly.
Yes, I trust the machines.

There'll never be another unquestionable election result (or anything remotely close to it) because of computers. Too easy to rig. Write 1200 pages of code, and when someone questions your company's veracity -- as Diebold's was -- and some geek just hands the judge 9 lbs of printed out code, like that's going to answer any charges.

No, that is how the Neo-Libs hijacked the latest election. They sent hackers into the voting machines who changed the results around in favor of the neo-libs.
One guy even running for Governor in a state is also part owner of Diebold and he STILL lost! It is obvious hackers changed his rigged machines...
Wait, I voted on a paper ballot???
Hmmm...

I would have said no, but since the dems won the last election, maybe we have a shot at a somewhat fair election
