Would anyone know of any good and effective home remedies to help repel mosquitoes ? Is there anything we can apply to the body / clothes or anything we can place around our house etc?

You can get rid of mosquitoes by using pest control.

you can try a method that i was told to use to keep ticks and flee's away. lyme your lawn in the spring then make a ring around it with kosher salt. Sometimes skin so soft by avon will work for some people. to keep bugs at bay. The best and most expensive way is the new bug repelers they put out in home depot. work great but you pay dear. When I go into the woods I use frontline for dogs and cats on my pant legs. Not directly on the body. Though if it is safe for my 5lb dogs I don't see why it would hurt me, but it does say not for human use

There are two good answers by two people so far. Avon's Skin So Soft repels mosquitos and Citronella candles in or around your home.

I have found that any kind of balm or lotion that contains camphor will work. Vinegar is good too. If you can handle the smell. Try using witch hazel to wash with too. Also drink lots of water, it starts to flush out toxins, which comes out through the poors too. it keeps mosquitos from thinking you are a tasty treat.

Don't eat any sugar. Mosquitoes love sugary sweet blood, and are attracted to people who consumer a lot of sugars. Otherwise, there are a number of products on the market to repel them around the house.

Bug lights? Also there are propane burners? that attract mosquitoes. Both placed away from the house.

Cover yourself in olive oil. Whilst you will smell a bit, the wretched mosquitoes won't be able to get a grip with their feet so they can't bite you.

100% Avon Skin-So-Soft. Works the very best,happi2bwu, you are spot on. My mom sells more of that to hunters and fishermen than women, because it really WORKS! You can put it in a spray bottle to spray around your house, it keeps fleas away also.
