You start with 2 cards. Your goal is to get as close as possible to a total of 21 without going over. To do this you can take as many cards as you want, but if you go over, you lose.

You start of with 2 cards and then if you haven't got Blackjack (Blackjack consists of two cards One of the cards must be an ace and the other card can be any of the following: 10 , Jack, Queen, or King). you will be offered more cards.
There is usually NO limit on the amount of cards you can have. But you can't go over 21 or you bust. However if you get a pair you can choose whether or not to split them and create two hands. You are not allowed to split a pair of 4's, 5's, or 10's. If you split a pair of aces you only get one new card on each. Also if you get a ten or a picture card (Jack, Queen, King) it would only count as 21 and not Blackjack. If you split any other pair that your allowed to IE: 2's, 3's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, then you can have as many cards as you like on each hand as long as you don't go bust.

The whole idea is to get 21.
If your first deal is a pair you can split them.
Failing that if you get a picture (king, queen, jack - that is ten.)
If you get an ace then that is 21.
But - if you get a 'play' card - anything under a picture; that becomes its own number.
So. If you get a 3 (for instance) and a 4. Then you get an ace (that makes 8) - you get to choose what the ace will be - but just let's say in this instance you want it to be a 1; so now you're 8. Then you get a 6 (say) - now you're 14 in which case you have to choose another card because you are under 15. Now (just pretending of course) you get a 6! Lucky you! You got 5 cards and a 21! You are a winner! But if you chose to make the ace an 11 that would make you 18 and you could sit and hope that the banker doesn't get more than that. Sorry if that is as clear as mud...but it is a great game! :-}

you need to start with 2cards but if you have small numbers it goes up to 5 cards to get to 21 points, that,s why in Canada here it,s called 21 in stead of blackjack,except in the casino it still called black jack it canada, so the world will know what it is,

In order to earn a blackjack you have to get 21 on the first two deals. It would be King/ ace, 10 ace. jack ace, or queen ace.

you start with 2 and try and get twenty one. you can then ask for another card to try and get to twenty one but if it is over twenty one you go bust and loose. the best hands are pontune (an ace and a king) or a five card trick wich is 5 cards that add up to twenty one.

You start with 2 usually one face up and one face down then you draw up to 5 until you get to or close to 21.

as little as 2 and as many as like 5...if they are all low cards.
7 cards are used in stud, and draw poker, such as no limit texas hold 'em

You're dealt two, and unless you "split" them (like two kings, or aces) you can "hit" up to five times if you don't "bust" first. On splitting the cards, you can "hit" five times on each card if you don't "bust".
