It doesn't really matter what genre, but a game big in size (like Zelda) is what I'm after. Oh yeah, I don't like games with random battles in so don't even bother mentioning a Final fantasy title! Also, I already have all the GTA games so they are out as well!

the battles aren't random, they're planned - and it's done on a grid system, even though it doesn't look like a grid (like final fantasy tactics) (phantom brave is not done on a grid system)

i have them all, but have only played la pucelle - i'm on map 3, and since i decided to focus on items, i'm over 80 hours into the game - and probably not near 1% of my goal
in disgaea, reputedly the best game of this list, you can not only bring your character's level into the thousands, but you can enter each of your items for hundreds more fight maps, or something

I know you said not to mention any Final Fantasy titles, but I have to mention Final Fantasy XII. There are NO random battles in it, and I am currently going over 80 hours of playtime on it.

scarface mate its gta with big shiny bells! Ive had it bout a month now and im about 66% done but be warned some of the missions are brick. Have fun what ever you do dont buy the godfather dull dull dull
