Prenatal vitamins are very good for you and give you the extra vitamins you need. Keep taking the prenatal vitamins, in time you will notice a big difference. Best Wishes!!!

I think docs like to suggest it because in your 20s you never know when you are going to meet someone and decide it's the right time to settle down and start trying. And my friends who are now pregnant started taking the vitamins a year before they even started trying to get pregnant. So I think it's just to give you a head start. Plus, like the other answerers pointed out, it'll help you in other areas as well.

you probably are a bit anemic and maybe sexually active.
prenatals have folic acid and iron for anemia (this is low iron in blood which causes tiredness). or you need extra calcium or potassium. he may be thinking that you might be defesient in certain things prenatals supply (like listed above) or that you may get pregnant w/o wanting to, do u use birth control or smoke? prenatals are accually a good suppliment but if you start to get constipated it the prenatals causing that and i would switch to flinstones, which i think are just as good

My guess is for the iron and folic acid (folate). If you're on the thin side (and sometimes even if you aren't) you might get iron-deficiency anemia. The other thing is most women don't get enough folic acid. Many grains are fortified with it now, but it also comes naturally in dark leafy greens.

You might not be planning on a pregnancy, but it can still happen, as there is no single or combination of birth control methods that is 100% effective. Taking these vitamins is a precaution.

They help when you DO get pregnant. Any girls that are childbearing age should take them because most pregnancies are unplanned and taking them 3-6 months before pregnancy helps prevent certain birth defects. They also help your hair and nails grow better, and are better for women than other regular vitamins.
