I am very antisocial and can't even talk to my neighbors or hang out with friends outside of work. Im not depressed or anything, I just like being home and don't really know how to or have a drive to be social. But of course there are those occassions. I have a 7yr old daughter and I don't want her to be like me. Because I can be precieved (sp?) as unfriendly. So how do I change?

I am 49 and have been introverted (or antisocial) all my life. You can't change. I have accepted the fact that I have a couple close friends and I socialize with them. If it is not what you want why fret about it? If you however, are placed in situations where you want to appear to be more social, think of questions that you could ask others. For example, if you are at a spouse's Christmas party and get stuck at a table with a bunch of people you don't know, you could ask, "What was your favorite present when you were little?" Think of something that everyone could relate to. Hope this helps. P.S. Your daughter's social vs. non-social has already been determined. It is inherited. I have one of each.

first of all you need to ask youreself if youre ready to change cause if not youre daughter may grow up the same way you dont want that do you. start small maybe join her up in a play group or a day program after schooletc... than maybe get to know youre neighbors a lil bit you may find you enjoy this, it is fun to be out and about but still have the in my house life youre accustomed too. If there is more to this email me id like to help dee,,,..

you're probably shy, I'm the same way, I heard it could be genetic. Both my parents were extremely shy growing up and now they are some of the most talkative people you meet. I'm still the same way but everyone keeps telling me I'll grow out of it. but it is hard to do. I usually start off small and maybe say hello or something just to get a conversation started.
