I agree, cast iron is your best bet and is also the cheapest you will find for long wearing pots and pans, I just did about 3 months looking all over town comparing prices and quality. I did buy stainless steel, though, the frying pan cost me $220 and I love it but I have also kept my cast iron fry pan which I think I paid about $15 for about 20 years ago...

There is nothing that will do what cast iron does that is cheaper! For example a cast iron ware dutch oven can cost from 30 to 70 dollars. A similar dutch oven constructed of enameled cast iron, stainless steel/copper will run 300 to 500 dollars.

what are you using the cast iron for? A raw casting, cookware,or paperweight?
