As long as she's being watched sure why not? Independence is good.

Rylee grow to be round thirteen-14 months i imagine even as she grew to grow to be noticeably good at it. She held a spoon and placed the nutrition on it earlier then. Or she would only %. up the nutrition which includes her hands. She nevertheless has difficulty with some meals-soups, chilis, stews, cream of wheat, and so on. yet for the most section, she feeds herself with a spoon and a fork. only keep attempting, she receives it! each baby is different and that i'm certain Little bypass over Cady receives it very right now!

My daughter started spoon feeding herself at 6 months. She of course only was eating baby food at the time, and it was a little messy.
My daughter has always liked to do things on her own, and only allowed me to spoon feed her for a short while, before she wanted to do it herself. I figure, as long as she is happy, eating, and I'm there supervising her to make sure she does not choke, etc. - then why not let her do it herself.

I think it's great and it couldn't hurt as long as it is baby food and someone is watching her. She'll probably be a very neat eater as she grows up. I know a guy that his mom never let him feed himself, even as a toddler, and now he is grown and the messiest eater I've ever seen. That is her way of exploring and learning hand-eye coordination. My 16 month old loves using a fork, not spoon, but fork. Since she was about 12 months, if you don't give her one, she'll take yours.

as soon as i started feeding my daughter with a spoon she has always had one in her hand. (didn't start using it until she was around 9 or 10 months old) i started giving her a fork around 14 months old. now she can use both a spoon and fork without too much of a mess and she's 19 months old.

How much mess does she want to clean up? I think it's fine to let the baby get used to holding the spoon and bringing it to his/her mouth. But to expect the baby to feed itself at this age is unrealistic... and when they're that small, they need to be supervised while they eat.

I did. I would just make sure my babies ate a little first then let them have the spoon. Just keep an eye on them. How else will they learn and you get those cute pictures? Tell her to have fun with her baby.

It is perfectly fine under supervision and with a baby spoon.

I would think it is absolutely fine as long as the baby is monitored so he/she isn't sticking the spoon too far into his/her mouth.

If she can, let her. Kids at that age discover they can pick things up their own and they want to do it as much as they can. Don't let her feed herself unsupervised - sit right next to her. If she wants to use her hands to pick her food up (like Cheerios or something like that.) don't discourage that either - it means she's working on her motor skills!

yeah, its fine. as long as the food on the plate is cut into small pieces and its soft enough to chew on. dont give them circular/spherical stuff cos it could choke them. just keep watch while they feed themselves.. praise them that they've done a good job.
