I am on birth control and I have PCOS... many doctors have suggested that with my ovarian problems I may have fertility problems. I was off the birth control for a month or so and I just started back on it I made it through almost a month so I know there is a possibility that it wasn't working properly. I had unprotected sex a week ago the day before my period. He pulled out but I know that that is not an effective method. I had my normal period the day after we had sex but 3 days in it just stopped. A day later I began bleeding bright red blood and having horrible cramps (they felt different from my normal cramping) I have been running a slight temperature and having minor back pain which all started a week after I had sex. I am well aware that its way to early to tell... but I just have a feeling. I would love to be pregnant expecially since they told me it was impossible. I went to a clinic for the cramps and bleeding and they told me to wait and take a test. Any advice?

I am on Yasmin and also have PCOS. I got pregnant once when I got off the pill and had unprotected sex ( I got pregnant right after I got off the pill) but had a miscarriage. I've never been pregnant while being on the pill but as of lately I too, have been having alot of pain in my back, legs, cervical area during, before and after my period. I suggest you see the GYN or your Primary care physician. If you aren't pregnant and the pain persists they will order an MRI and then Sonograms etc. I'm currently undergoing this process as well. Unfortunately I had an Endocrinology appointment today but couldn't make it because I'm in severe pain. I would suggest you get an STD test done (Don't panic) and yes, your GYN will definitely perform an exam, pap smear and pregnancy test. Document what you are experiencing - everything. It really helps the health professionals diagnose and search for the problem. I haven't found a solution to my problem (I've been in pain for almost a year now) and keep praying that one day I might)
Some GYN's will attribute the spotting or light bleeding to the contraception (which is possible if you read the side effects tab)
Get a second opinion. Since, you had sex right before your period ( I assume you know that you ovulate before your period ie. 2 weeks before or with some women 2 weeks after their period) You may just be pregnant.
I suggest you see your health professional mainly because it could be a number of things.

You will NOT get a slight temperature with your pregnancy. Because you're having more bleeding, it sounds like your body is having trouble adjusting to life without artificle hormones.

My advice is to just relax and take some Midol. Since you had a period right after you had sex, you're probably not pregnant.

Good luck though!

See a doc immmediately! It sounds almost like a miscarriage. (I've had two of them) Years ago doctors told me Iwouldn't be able to have children because I had PID....3 wks later I got pregnant. I have 3 boys now. My 2nd and 3rd pregnancies happened while I was on birth control. Anythings possible no matter what a doctor tells you! But either way you should see one ...miscarriages can be very dangerous if you lose too much blood. Good luck!

It sounds like a miscarriage, go to the Dr's and get checked out to be on the safe side. Your body is adjusting from on the pill and off the pill. Get things checked out for your piece of mind and to make sure all is ok. Best Wishes and Happy New Year!

i bet its the going on and off birth control causing these changes. but it wouldnt hurt to take a test. take the first response that detects it 5 days early, it should show up on that, i wish you all the luck in the world!

Why is like 10% of the questions on here "Am I pregnant?"?!?! Who cares? If you had sex then the odds are you are. Simple as that.
