Just curious. Everyone on here seems to not have the ability to judge people as people, but rather by their political affiliation. I am a democrat, but I thought Reagan was a very good president. While I did not agree with everything he did, he did bring down the Berlin Wall. (and he didn't even have to kill anyone, it's called diplomacy). Has anyone else on here ever given credit to anyone from the opposing party?

Sure. My wife leans liberal and votes mostly Democrat. And of our friends, my favorite is probably the most liberal of them. She's very liberal, but we do share a deep religious belief, believe strongly in personal charitable constribution, both enjoy weird movies, and are music buffs.

Sure, I chided her when she said, "Bush is evil", but she's stopped saying it, because I made her realize that he's merely doing what he believes is the right thing to do.

2 thumbs down? for what???

I think that Joe Lieberman is a good guy. And, for some reason I really can't figure out, I like Al Sharpton. I don't take him seriously as a politician, but there's just something about him. I *did* like Clinton at one point, and my reasons for not liking him are strictly based on him as a person, not a politician.

And I have a ton of liberal friends. We just agree to disagree. And, ironically enough, we actually agree more often than not - just proving that most Americans are really moderates.

I, too, voted for Reagan. I tend to vote Democrat, not out of any sense of party loyalty, but they always seem to be the lesser of 2 evils. I have voted for a total of 6 different parties over my lifetime. There are currently a few Republicans I like thinking about running in '08, but it's still to early to give my support to any.

Perhaps I'm not the best person to answer this, since I don't strictly vote Republican or Democrat, but I actually try to do a little research into the issues and vote for whoever is going to do the best job. Then I vote for that person. Party doesn't matter to me at all since I am a liberty-loving, small-government kind of voter, and whoever achieves those ends best gets my vote.

Sure. A lot of them.

This isn't about politics specifically but I'll tell you the most important thing I've learned about people and life in 23 years of marriage.

The things that you have in common with someone are what make life comfortable but it's the times that you work with someone through your differences that you grow and achieve the most.

This isn't the Hatfields Vs. McCoys, we can be civil to one outside of our politics.

If the discussion is kept in the arena of ideas rather than a free for all slander fest, we'd get along a lot better.

Im a democrat. I thought that Senator McCain was a great guy until the last few months. Hes starting to sound like hes losing it. Maybe hes getting alzheimers or something.

This a funny one to me. I have many Republican friends that think Kennedy was a good president. The actually liked him. The irony in that is that Kennedy makes Clinton look like a Saint, yet they hate Clinton for his moral mistakes.

Most of my friends are very liberal. We rarely discuss politics and we are friends for different reasons. Yahoo answers is different because we are giving our political views and people are judging us for it. It is to be expected in the politics section. Who knows, my worst enemy on here could be my best friend! LOL
