I prefer American Standard. They produce their own line and also Trane products. Consumer reports rates the top three manufacturers as 1. American Std. 2. Rudd 3. Trane

The lowest rated are Goodman.

Consumer Reports has rated furnaces and air conditioners 3 times in the last 7 years. The top three remain consistent while the others have not.

id say Trane is the best. rheem is a close second just because i like the way the condenser cabinet is made. rheem has a few problems with the evaporator coils though.

goodman and nordyne is basically junk. there are no dealer minimums on these units so the dealers who sell these units are bottom of the barrel. goodman is the brand of choice for trailers, just because they are so cheap.

Possum, hvac guy.

Personally I like Ruud Rheem as they use readily available parts if needed. Lennox has specific repair parts that you can only get from a lennox dealer. Carrier is ok- they have had some past problems with their furnaces but that was mainly from improper set up by the technicians. Goodman is a cheap alternative, but to me they are built cheap as well- lots of raw sharp edges on their equipment to cut ya when ya service them.

I prefer Trane myself. I've had one for 8 years and not one proplem. Hated my Carrier, was a noisy beast

All depends on what is available in your area. Where I live in Canada, Lennox is having a hard time stocking replacement parts, and only 1 company carries Goodman parts and he's never there

Ran HVAC service for a long time, we installed Lennox & Trane.

Both are awsome units, didn't do much by way of repairs on either brand, just basic preventive maintenence(clean & checks).

Spent a lot of time fixing Bryant,Janitrol, Ruud, Amana, and Sears brand crap.
I think Bryant's & Janitrol were our bread & butter, they were always breaking down.

no such thing as best. It changes from model to model year. They always try to make it cheaper. Goodman, Lennox, Trane are comparable. Pick the cheapest with the best service behind it.
