You're growing up -- maturing. (You're getting there.) You can see the childishness of excessive drinking. You're values are evolving, and the "benefits" of drinking are outweighed by the "costs" (the hangover, the wasted day after, the amnesia, and worse) -- it's no longer worth it.
One drink with a few good friends is better than six drinks with thirty acquaintances. The first scenario is social, the second is quasi-social, a sham.
True socializing (with true friends) is one of those things that make us truly happy.

because your body has become somewhat immune to the affects of alcohol. Now it either wants more or needs something else to get it going. That's why I believe that alcohol can be a gateway drug. Cut down on it for a while. Start drinking less. Give your body a break and maybe that'll help.

You're growing up, you have to learn the difference between drinking and getting drunk. Drinking can be fun. Chill out with friends, sip on your whiskey, beer, or whatever, talk about old times, catch a decent buzz. But you have to evolve past the days of keg stands, jello shots, and funneling.

Because people need more things to be cheerful besides the booze- doing things for others- making someones day- exercising.. alcohol is nice in moderation but Violet Pearl is right- "depressant" is the key word. In excess it can turn us "stupid"..

Well at least you are realizing it. I am still dealing with an immature boyfriend with that problem...
When drinking or doing drugs.. moderation is the key... Going Bizerk and drinking all you can is just ridicilous... plus it I dont like how I feel when I am super drunk.. I just like a lil buzz.

Alcohol may make you feel better temporarily but it's actually a depressant. You body and mind is telling you something you should heed. Drinking also releases our inhibitions and facilitates doing stupid things.

Try changing your drinking environment. Instead of going to Frat parties in basements, try going to a nice sports bar or dance club. In other words, if your going to dumpy places, try a nice place for a change of pace. Just a thought.

You are maturing and your body has realized that alcohol is a depressant, not a pick-me-up. You have realized how ineffective, and expensive, and dangerous, and unhealthy, etc. it is to address every situation by drinking.
