My first daughter had colic. It turned out she had reflux and the doctor prescribed medicine which helped a lot. For months we didn't know why she cried so much. I tried everything and found that a baby swing helped soothe her sometimes. Infant gas drops (simethicone) really helped too. Most of the time, I just put her in a baby pack on my chest and tried rocking and soothing her. IIf you feel overwhelmed, ask someone to help so you can have a break. Remember, there can be many different causes of colic. Read the links below. They discuss what may be bothering your baby. Your baby may have bad gas, stomach pains, reflux, allergic reactions, be overly stimulated, etc. Try using baby gas drops or changing formula. If the mother is breastfeeding, the baby might be sensitive to foods that she is eating. Talk to your doctor and see what they think. Good news is, you will survive this stage.

So sorry!! Colic is so horrible!! My baby is 12 weeks and is now getting over colic. I was unable to let her cry without holding her. Try swaddling (properly), shushing noises, swings. Different arms sometimes work. (I got very excited after hours of crying). Mylicon drops might work. My doctor gave me a prescription for something else but it didn't work. I had to have her sleep on her stomach (terrifying) but talk to your doctor about your risks with that first. I also had to cosleep to get any sleep at all. Slight pressure on the stomach may work. Make sure you burp her for long enough. At 6 weeks I had to give up breast feeding and switch to Enfamil Gentlease. The Enfamil Nutrimigen works too but is sooo expensive. If you don't want to give up breast feeding try the Gentlease for all but 2 feedings so you don't lose your milk supply, then you can gradually go back to breast.
If all of this doesn't work. The only thing you can do is have another trusted individual hold her for a few hours while you take some time to sleep, take a bath, etc. The worst part is what colic does to you. You baby will be fine even if she/he cries, but you have to take care of yourself. Colic reaches its worst by 6 weeks and should over by 12 weeks.

My son had horrible colic and we tried everything the doctor said. Nothing worked for more than one or two times and gas drops did nothing. My in-laws gave him chamomile tea, and it worked like a dream, to this day if he gets a belly ache or when he is sick and has lots of gas we give it to him and he feels much better. No doctor will recommend it but it does work. Just give your baby an ounce or so with every bottle or a couple ounces a couple times a day. Also, adding a tiny amount of sugar in the tea helps the baby take it easier.

I have a 5 month old who was suffering from "extreme fussiness" aka colic.
I tried everything from swaddling to every other thing the other moms have suggested for it. (including the happiest baby on the block book) Here is the one fail proof -worked every single time- thing I found. Craddle you babe and bounce up and down on an exercise ball. They LOVE the up and down bouncy motion. The harder I bounced the more content my son was. I used to put it in front of the tv in my bed room and bounce through primetime tv which is also prime colic time. It saved my sanity (and I found a use for the exercise ball that had collected dust over my pregnancy) Oh- you will also get a mini butt and quad workout, too!
My pediatriton FINALLY agreed to put my son on Zantac because I thought the root of his discomfort was acid refulux (couldn't use an AR formula because he gets breastmilk) and let me tell you it is like I have a new kid! Sooooo happy now!
But definately try the exercise ball thing. I swear by it!

like all of those mums mentioned, use some "wind drops" in the milk. u can get them off the shelves, ask the pharmacy or read the instructions before use. have the milk warm and abt 10ml more than the usual intake of milk. burp in-between the entire feed. after feed, just pat his back.. most babies sleep on that. make that abt 10 to 15min. if he burps, try the extra 10ml. babies tend to doze off after a full "tank".. lol.

Try reading THE HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK by Harvey Karp. You can find it at the library too. It basically breaks down 5 steps you can do and why they work.
I read the book and give it too all new moms at baby showers.

Putting our son in one of the baby carriers and walking him around for 20 minutes did wonders for his evening crying. I wish you the best and, worst case scenario, you only have two more months of this.
