It really isn't necessary to warm the engine up however buses have air brakes and air ride suspensions. It is necessary for them to have the proper air pressure in the tank before they can drive away or the brakes will automatically lock up and prevent movement.

As far as the engine goes, It's not a big issue. They can drive slowly until the engine warms up without hurting the engine.

Depending on how cold it gets, most times yes. Although the newer models probably come with an engine block heater as standard equipment you still need to warm up any diesel engine in extreme cold temperatures to prevent the fuel from freezing.

Warmin up is good for ANY vehicle, no matter how old or new. Newer vehicle have a shorter warm up period though, and less emissions during that warmup period.
