insecure men. But has anyone else came across the same problem in the gay/lesbian community? Do intelligent self-confident women sometimes intimidate other women who may be interested in them? Do gay men experience this too? Why?

I recently had a woman tell me that I come off as a little unapproachable because of my self-confidence. That seems a bit strange to me.
I'm attracted to classy women with confidence, i don't run from them!

I've actually had quite a few women tell me that when they first met me they were very intimidated. I realize I like to speak my mind a lot but I'm never mean to anyone unless I am provoked.

On the other hand, I am very shy around people that I am attracted to, especially when I am attracted to a female. I care more about my first, second, third, etc. impression on a woman than I do on a man.

Perhaps it's not so much intimidation. Perhaps it is more like insecurity.

Of course this happens in the gay community too. People are people gay or not, and some people are more or less confident than others. Some people are intimidated by a potential partner who is successful, established, intelligent, attractive and sound. Many people seem to wonder if they'll measure up, or will they be just dead weight for their well-rounded partner to carry. Nobody is perfect, not even the perfect lover!

I think it becomes more about personality, and less about gender expectations. Like...I feel that gender probably plays a bigger part when straight men feel uncomfortable with more confident women. But I think that a generally meeker personality can feel a little overwhelmed by a generally stronger one, even without societal gender.

Two really shy people doesn't work so well. But, one shy person with someone who's SUPER extroverted doesn't work too well either; that's kind of "scary" to the shy person.

yes.intelligence and self confidence scares people only because they think they could never be as confident,or as intelligent as the person they are pursuing, some see it as just showing off, happens to everyone, strait or gay.

I'm attracted to strong, confident women as well. They're very attractive traits.
