In a graph showing how long it took a certain mineral to dissove in hot, lukewarm, and cold water with temperature on the "x" axis and time on the "y" axis, which is the dependent and which is the independant?

i think the dependent is the time and the independent is the temperature..but am i right?

The independent usually is X time
and the dependent (depends on the value of x) is the y axis

In any graph, the dependent variable is usually plotted on the 'y' axis (also called the domain). thus in your case, 'time' is dependent on 'temperature'.

I think that the temperature is the independent since it is known, and that time is dependent since it is being measured as a function of temprature.

the dependent variable is the temperature of the hot, luke warm or cold water the indenpendent variable is the time
