How do I make my website so that people can log into it? I am making a school chat site?

I want students at my school to be able to log into the site and chat in the chat box I am putting in, mainly so people can't pretend to be other people in our school. How would I go about doing this? I wouldn't mind just being able to have a chatroom I put on my site and people can log into the chat as long as I can approve who creates a new chatname or something?

check out www.bravenet.com they have a chat feature that you can put in your web site that you create and it is free, check it out.

Any decent chat software you're using should have a login facility built into it.
