I had an economics professor who wore shorts, sandals and a tie-died T-Shirt -- every single day.

He later won the Clark Prize (the price for best economist under 40 -- there is a high correlation with Nobel Prize winners). I ran into him a a conference as he was about to be awarded the prize. He was wearing a suit & I hardly recognized him.

At the college where I work, we have two miles of waterfront and a private beach. Until a few years ago, almost everyone went barefoot.

We still have students that sometimes come into the library in their bikini. The air conditioning makes it uncomfortable, though, so we don't see much of it any more.

Not that I can recall, but I wouldn't care if they did. Who cares? High school is over. It's time to stop being so uptight about what everyone else is wearing.

But I go to college in Florida where the beach is five minutes away, so everyone wears sandals and I'm sure people kick them off from time to time. During Finals week, I walk around the library in my socks. Who cares? It's comfortable and it helps me unwind during Finals.

No, and bare feet in public school should be against the law. A student could not come to school barefooted. If you have one, ask your fellow students to take their shoes and socks off in class and see how fast you are told to put them back on. Hope he doesn't have any type of fungus on his feet. This is discussing.

One of my profs wore sandals to recitation, and she'd kick them off sometimes. No biggie.
