"Iraq is the only major U.S. conflict, except for the 1846-48 Mexican-American War, in which citizens haven't been asked to make a special financial sacrifice," Bloomberg reports. "President George W. Bush opposes tax increases, even as the costs escalate far beyond predictions and he calls for more troops."

2 out of 3, yes. I would pay more taxes to help veterans and find Osama Bin Laden, as long as those taxes didn't go to Haliburton, which is feeding our troops substandard food in Iraq.

I am in favor of more money for the VA (I am a veteran), but not a tax hike of any kind. End the war in Iraq and a tax increase will not be needed, and there will be plenty of money for the VA and many other programs of social importance. And yes, there will be enough left over to fund the impeachment of the President.

Start by cutting tax breaks: tax accordingly the incomes.
Tax programs should work by brackets and really mean it. Think about a few extra billions a year coming from the big corps and CEO, and billionaires injected in the budget.
Once they balance that then let's start asking from the other people to make some sacrifices

What about War Bonds? They had those years ago, why not now? Those who wanted to finance the war could, and those who are against it would not have to.

Tax increases in reality would not increase revenue. They would cause the economy to shrink, thus reducing tax revenue.
