my best friend was just diagnosed and her doctor said she will have to check her blood sugars at home and supplement with insulin.

Gestational Diabetes can be scary... i think the main concern for doctors are having a baby too large to pass through. If she is carefully checking her blood sugar and taking insulin as request by the doctors, there is not much to worry about. With gestational diabetes, it will pass after the birth of your baby, however very few women remain having diabetes in which it turns to type 2. Maybe if she is really concern about it, she should do some research on the computer on this issue. Good luck.

Uncontrolled blood sugars in pregnancy can cause the same damage to the mom as regular diabetes can plus it can cause damage to the developing baby. It can also lead to miscarriage and occasionally still birth. It is nothing to take lightly. Follow the docs instructions to a T. No cheating on the diet. Women who develop gestational diabetes run a higher risk of developing diabetes later on in life. A few months of rigid health guidelines is worth having a healthy baby.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. it isnt that serious they just give her insulin to check for the sake of the baby and her too but also babies born with mothers her have gestational diabetes are born big
