I just had this teacher for Fall 2006 semester in college, and she is truly horrible. Her projects, quizes, and exams, and taking off massive points for minor flaws in excel projects eventually made me change my major.

Please, my change of major was merely from accounting to Finance, it not only did not screw me up anymore, but lifted off a huge weight and emotional stress off my shoulders. Technically the very best choice I have made. : )

My 9th grade science teacher was horrible. Science was my favorite subject and I was a straight A student. The first thing she said was that everyone was going to fail the class. She gave us a sheet of 50 different things we needed to buy, all items between $100 and $500. Then, on the second week (4th day) of school, she sends me to the principal because I did not know the chemical formula: H7O + C3O yields H2CO3E5. I looked it up, and it is not even a real chemical formula. The principal had a nice little chat with her, but did it change things? Nope, and I didn't expect it to. Then, I got 100% on a test, but lowered my grade to an 85%, because no one else got 100%. On one quiz, she asked us to draw something I had never heard of. Still keeping a positive attitude, I assumed I missed something in class and guessed. Well, after the quiz she told us that she never taught that and she wanted us to "learn on our own." The class was chemistry and the question was physics, so it couldn't have been something we "learned on our own." I ended up getting a B in the class. She wrote on my comments, "Your child needs to persevere more." I was steamed, because I tried harder in that class that any other class. I went to my friends and she wrote that on everybody's. I confronted her and she said that she felt like saying that on everyone's and didn't have time to write anything else. I mean, I wasn't even too mad about that, but if she kept th first test at 100% like it should have been, I would have gotten an A- in the class. My parents never liked the teacher when my older sister had her, but she wasn't as bad to my sister, so they were extremely angry when she did all of the things to me.

Well, my 100 level English prof in college was a sadist (known fact). He was extremely demanding, gave little if any credit for well done assignments, and always returned graded assignments (to all students) with a grade given and then crossed out and replaced with a lower grade. I ALMOST dropped out of college because of this guy.

I hope you read this: As years have passed, I now truthfully realize that this one professor taught me more worthwhile and lasting lessons than any other professor I had for the rest of my 8 year college education.

I hope you didn't change your major for the wrong reason.

I hated my art teacher in high school.

My school likes switching around everyone's schedule because many students don't like the hand they were dealt so we all get screwed. So anyway, the first day I was transferred into her class, they were having a quiz/test thing and she told me I could have one to look on. Then, she collected it from me and gave me a 0. A few days after that, she made the kids who didn't do their homework write a letter to her about why they didn't do it. I told her that I couldn't write that because I didn't know what the the homework was, she was like "hmm, that's true" but made me write something anyway. I wrote her a scathing letter about how ridiculous it is. how unfair she is, and told her that I only wrote it because my group would be penalized if I didn't do it. I was a junior in high school when I had her.

I cut her class because I didn't want to deal with her nonsense and had her in summer school. I made that a living hell for her because I would do the bare minimum and I made sure my little insults were subtle but noticed. Me and some friends would purposely be loud and obnoxious to annoy her. Our art final consisted of 2 essays, 2 outlines, multiple choice, and some short answer questions! She's JUST an art teacher and we only had like an hour to do that. When I wrote the essays, I made sure to soak them in sarcasm and bullshit that only she would understand so I would pass and not get in trouble for it. If you read my essay you'd think "Wow, this girl has such a passion for art, she must be your best student!" but nope, she knew that it was just ****.

My 7th grade Algebra teacher Mr. Meilick. He liked to embarrass student's, called them stupid if they asked questions or could not complete problem on blackboard. He also played favorites. He would have extended conversations in french with one student while everyone else waited for him to continue. My self esteem took a dive and I failed this class. This was the first class I ever failed. I had difficulty with math ever since. I still don't like math but I didn't let him stop me. I went on to college and took remedial classes and that's where I met the most understanding, patient professor named Mr. St. Ville. With his help I passed the course and went on to continue my education. If this teacher is having such an impact on you speak up. Speak with other students or talk to her and tell her how you feel. If you don't get results go to the department and make a formal complaint. Changing your major because of one professor seems drastic.

I had an algebra teacher in high school that was a lesbian. She would coddle the girls in class whenever they asked a question, but would yell "Why don't you understand this? Are you stupid?" when the boys asked.

That's horrible. Don't let ONE teacher change your dreams, though. Just make a voodoo doll of her and you'll feel better!

I have had too many teachers who just did not care... or made us read instead of actually teaching us. There should be better standards.

There was a prof in university that you could NOT please...no matter WHAT you did it was wrong. He was there on Thursdays. After about two months of this we made sure we had other things to do and other places to be ON Thursdays.
