I would say by 5 mph. But, if you don't feel comfortable go slowly and go the speed you want. Whenever it is raining bad I always see people pulled over and people going like 30 mph in a 60 mph. Just make sure your in the slow lane if you are on the highway so you don't make the car behind you wanting to drive fast mad. And if you on a one lane road, don't worry about the person behind you. They can wait to get where they are going. Be safe. Oh and if you see standing water don't put on the gas or go to fast you can hydro whatever thats called.

Well, I learned, not so much by speed, but by car lengths ahead of you. You should always try to put two car lengths between you and the car in front of you. That ensures adequate time for your brakes to work, not to mention your reflexes, and reduces the chances of a rear end collision, in case the care in front of you jams on their brakes. If the road is wet, you should have three car lengths between you, and the car in front of you, to allow the extra time for wet brakes to grip the tires. Hope that helps.

I would definitely reduce my speed by at least 10 mph and increase your distance between you and the guy ahead of you.

No set safe speed when driving on slippery roads. Regardless of tire wear, visibility and road condition, one should and always drive carefully and much slower than regular posted speed limits. Also turn on headlamps to increase your automobile's visibility to other drivers.

This is the boating site......... I would say that most of the 'roads' I drive my boat on are really really wet .... hopefully wet enough for my 6'10" keel to clear ... soooooo the wetter the better and full speed ahead !!!!

You don't necessarily need to reduce your speed (don't INCREASE it though either). But do increase your distance from the car in front of you - you do need more braking time.

Following distance is more important. Increase your following distance (stay farther back from the vehicle in front of you) and stay at the speed limit and you'll do fine.

i take my foot off the gas pedal. i dont think braking would be a good idea b/c your wheels could lock up and skid, especially around a curve
