I juust moved here from fL. I do not have a job yet. I think I may be pregnant. I live with the (maybe) baby's father. I am very very very sick. If I continue to feel this sick with this pregnancy I will not be able to work. I am wondering if I will be eligable for medicaid. The problem is that the baby's father makes too much money (but doesn't have any of it because he is paying back taxes and child support). Is eligability based just on my (non existent) income since we are not married?

Since you are not married, you will qualify you for medicaid based only on yourself. You will need medicaid even if you get a job, because the insurance will not immediately pick you up when you start a new job. You will want to get coverage right away, go to the local health department, get the test, and they will sign you up for medicaid.

I live in Ga and work at a dentist office and if you live with your boyfriend his income is considered household income. You could just randomly call though and see but I know from when my friend had a baby and she lived with her boyfriend they counted his income. Luckly for her he did not make enough. From working in a dental office and taking medicaid, the system is taking alot of cut backs due to lack of funding. If I were you I would go to the health dept and get a pregnancy test and they can better help get you set up for all the goverment assistance GA has. If you do not qualify for medicaid you should be able to get wic which will help buy the really high baby formula. Before the baby is born you can get certain foods for you and up to 6 weeks after the baby is born. I hope this helps and Good luck!!

here in AR, his income counts IF he is the baby's father.. If not it's like a roommate suituation. They will ask u if u know who the father is and he will have to pay that money back to them.. Medicaid auto contracts with the child support unit..their lawyers will get involved.. If they find out u lied to get it it's fraud. It's better to tell them the truth.. If he is paying taxes and other child support, his income woud not be as much and it would help u..

I live in Virginia... here eligibility was based on just my income. On the application it asks the income of other family members in the household, I put down my fiance's and they told me he didn't count since we're not family yet. You do have to show proof of your pregnancy, the doc will write a letter for you.

I live in Texas and they base it just on my income. It would not hurt to just say you have no clue who the baby's daddy is.

It should be. I would randomly call the office and ask questions.

Also take a test so you know for sure!
