i don't live in britain. fur coat adverts are on the tv here. what's wrong with wanting to keep warm?

NONE its cruel and we are causing many of these animals to become distinct because of the fur trade. The WAY that these animals are kills is inhumane and cruel. There are plenty of ways to keep warm.
The fur ads you might see in magazines and commercials portray fur coats as a symbol of elegance. But these ads fail to show how the original owners of these coats met their gruesome deaths. Millions of fur-bearing animals including foxes, raccoons, minks, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, nutria, beavers, muskrats, otters, and others are killed each year on fur farms by anal and vaginal electrocution and in the wild by drowning, trapping, or beating.
To kill the animals without damaging their fur, trappers usually strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals "wake up" while being skinned.
More than half the fur in the U.S. comes from China, where millions of dogs and cats are bludgeoned, hanged, bled to death, and sometimes even skinned alive for their fur. Chinese fur is often deliberately mislabeled, so if you wear any fur, there's no way of knowing whose skin you're in.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep warm which is why foxes, minks and otters NEED to keep theirs! Which makes it VERY WRONG for us to use it!! Buy your wife some nice fake fur. It will look just as good, it'll keep her warm and it might even be machine washable and cheaper too.

Do not buy real fur.
Here is why:
Real fur kills animals
She may get accosted wearing it by peta or animal rights
activists. This has happened many times and not worth it.
It is very difficult to clean and costly
It attracts bugs in your home and rodents, they love real fur.
The fake furs look real and feel real
Expensive Fake Fur can look fabulous
Stay away from real furs of any kind. Greedy people are making big money off those that buy them. And they just keep killing to keep up with demand.
Would you buy a dog or cat coat? How is this any different?

neither, it looks better on the animal where it belongs. Go for something else that doesnt involve blood money. As long as people see fur as a status symbol animals will go on suffering for fashion. There are only a few instances when natural fur is warmer than manmade materials, and it's used for practical reasons, near the poles and by the native dwellers of those regions. Otherwise please dont buy fur.

none all fur is best left on the animal just as nature intended to be there are things that would keep your wife warm so leave the animals and fur alone

The fur will look better on the fox, mink, or otter, than it will on your wife however nice she is.You could always donate your wife's skin to keep a fox or mink warm.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to wear dead animal skins. If you and your wife like the feel of fur, buy her a fake fur coat so that she doesn't get attacked in the street when out in a real fur coat.

A imitation fur coat works just as good as the animal fur. It also costs a lot less. And besides, most people can't tell the difference. Myself, I don't encourage people to kill animals just for their skins.

You don't need fur to keep warm. Why is your country so backward? Oh, are you those that eat cats and dog?
Well, on your way out to have your poodle kebab why don't you have a look at the dog furs, I've heard they're lovely to keep warm robots with no heart like you.

I have to admit i am against wearing real fur but some of the answers for wearing it are (so god dam funny ). Before you give me a thumbs down I am a vegetarian i have never worn fur .. actually protested against animal cruelty when i was in my youth . Some people on here are so funny even if i don't always agree with them :) yes i agree some are just deranged and need help.
