"(network) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

That's the message I get when I try to view other computers on the network that I created and am the administrator of. So what did I do wrong? What's the problem and how do I fix it? Thank you for your time.

Sounds like the root password and/or the root access has been hacked... i.e. permissions have been changed.
You need to be able to get in and redefine your permissions for your ID.

It depends on the operating system you're using for your network. If you've got a true domain (with Small Business Server 2003 or similar) you may have serious problems. Try logging on to the server locally with the domain adminstrator's account and go from there. It also makes a big difference if you are using XP home vs XP Professional
I suspect you have a simple "workgroup" environment, without a domain. If so, the problem is that you have not set up file sharing correctly. You can go to each computer individually and reset the file sharing structure, but it would probably be much easier to simply start from scratch. Go to any computer on the network and run the network setup wizard. Rename your workgroup, make sure you enable file/printer sharing properly, then create the networking disk and run it on all remaining computers.
